11 September 2006:
Wells Fargo Bank, Grapevine, Texas
The meeting was called to order at
7:30 by Robert Vick, Regional Executive.
Roll Call:
All members were present except Tim Evans, Robey Clark, and
Brian Sill.
Minutes for August were approved as
written.
Reports
of Officers:
Treasurer’s Report ( John Dorety):
Financials were reviewed and approved.
Membership Report (Robey Clark, BoD):
Mr. Vick reports for Robey Clark that the region has 877
members currently.
Rally Report (Sasha Lanz, ARE):
The MADD Rally, or Shifting Gears Rally will be a
two hour charity event beginning in the Billy Bob’s parking lot on
Saturday, October 14. Billy
Bob’s has a business relationship with Dodge, so they agreed to
allow use of their lot for the event.
USRRC Rally Nationals will be held on
October 20-22.
Solo Report (Matt Lucas, ARE):
Apex Driving Academy had shown interest in sponsoring an
October Road Course Autocross, but has now decided to wait until
next year.
Texas Region will host a divisional
event in 2007. The
preparations are being made with Todd Farris (Divisional Steward)
for a May date in Mineral Wells. Frisco
Rough Riders Stadium and Starplex are two potential Solo sites are
currently being investigated for future events.
A donation of $2000 was made by a now
defunct autocross car club. The
Texas Region had assisted the club with an autocross in Tyler, and
now the treasurer must donate any remaining money to a non-profit
organization. The region will
provide them with information and forms to allow the donation to
proceed.
Race Report (Robert Vick, RE):
A decision for a race deposit balance will be tabled until
next meeting. The region is
also currently negotiating a reduced track rental for the TMS race.
Eddie Gossage requested the use of ½ of a garage for a
charity Pit-stop Challenge. We have asked for ½ off
each day of track rental for that event.
The Christmas Super School has been
rescheduled from MSR-Cresson to TMS on December 1-3, 2006.
MSR has agreed to transfer our paid MSR December track
deposit of &1850 towards payment of the Double Regional on Feb.
3-4. Super School ads have
been placed in both Sportscar and Grassroots Motorsports for
November and December. Two
Sportscar ads at $500 each and two GRM ads at $205 each were placed.
Old
Business: A vote
was taken to move Texas Region’s Super School from Motorsports
Ranch to Texas Motor Speedway. The
vote was approved.
It was discussed that a date be
established for our traditional September/October Regional/Regional
race. An October date will be evaluated at TWS instead of TMS.
New
Business: The
Region’s Annual Award’s Banquet is tentatively scheduled for
February 10th at the Speedway Club of TMS.
The banquet was scheduled for January 27, but this date now
conflicts with the National Convention in San Antonio.
A discussion was made about a new SCCA
Board and Officers Insurance Program.
This new insurance would better protect SCCA elected
officials from liability.
Next meeting we will plan for the
upcoming Board and Officers elections.
