MARCH

6 March 2006:  Super 8 Motel, Grapevine, Texas

The meeting was called to order at 7:42 by Robert Vick, Regional Executive.

Roll Call: All members were present except Brian Sill and John Dorety.

Reports of Officers:

Treasurer’s Report ( John Dorety): Treasurer not present

Members Report (Robey Clark, BoD): An announcement was made about the tragic death of Gregory Bruder in a racing accident at MSR-Cresson.  Mr. Bruder was an SCCA member.

Mr. Clark reports 906 members as of March 7.

A correction to the Round Up was made for the April Club Race at MSR-Houston.  The schedule should read April 15-16th at MSR-Houston, Regional/National race weekend.

The April Membership meeting will be held at Bobby Archer’s business in Fort Worth if it is available. It was discussed that monthly membership meetings be changed to quarterly meetings. Sasha Lanz argued that monthly meetings are important. Tim Evans motioned that the May meeting be changed to a May party to coincide with the TMS Sunburn National race.  The motion was seconded by Dan Sherrod, and passed unanimously.

TRAC (Transitional Resource Action Center with Dallas Central Ministries) helps with transitions for foster care children after age 18, is helping to sponsor this race. TRAC will provide volunteers to support our May Club Race at TMS. TRAC will be using the event to help raise funds to promote the Sunburn Grand Prix, but the event will be used as their primary fundraising event for the year.  For more information on TRAC, go to www.traconline.org.

State Fair Classic Corral available dates were presented. The Club's preference of dates will be submitted and the State Fair will notify the Club as to its selected date. It was discussed to schedule after the Run-Offs on September 30 (Saturday).

Tim Evans discussed online registration for events. Dovonan Brown of DLB, Beth Mills of Washington DC region, Joyce McKinstry were included in the discussions regarding this issue.  Beth Mills reported that her region is totally paperless (no driver packets). Donovan has prepared a quote for online registration for the year. Prepayment would result in a 25% savings for the year.  Tim Evans made a motion to approve the payment for online registration. Matt Lucas confirm that Solo was using DLB but wasn’t sure if they were paying for it. Tim Evans amended the motion to be just for Club Racing events and to include Solo at a later date. Ralph Siebert 2nd. Vote was unanimous.

Rally Report (Sasha Lanz, ARE):  Mr. Lanz reports that plans for the Rally to the Race are coming along well. Rallyists will start from the Subaru of Dallas dealership at 9:30 am Saturday, May 6, and rally to TMS. They will get free entry into the race.  They will receive a free lunch at the Subaru tent hosted by Subaru of Dallas.  At the moment it is planned to invite the rally entrants to the membership party Saturday evening.  SCCA members will get points towards the new SCCA GTA Road Rally Championship Series.

Solo Report (Matt Lucas, ARE):  The first Solo event will be May 18-19. New timing software will be debuted during this event. Solo has stored 80 worn traffic cones in the SCCA lockup temporarily, with new ones on order.  Matt discussed the need for helping transition drivers from solo to Club Racing, etc. It was suggested to have a Club Racing school registration give-away possibly for the December school.  It was stressed that the Divisional Solo event is critical to financial success, and that a sponsor is being solicited to help with the use of the road course at TMS.

Thanks you was made to Sasha Lanz for his work with Chrysler SRT.  He also called the Atlanta region and gave them information to help them with the SRT events.  These SRT events can be used to help publicize the SCCA.

Race Report (Dan Cashman,  ARE): Race committee met prior to the BoD’s.  This information will be presented in April.

Old Business:

2006 Budget, request for approval (Robert Vick, RE).  Budget approved unanimously.
